Dear Grindleford,
Grindleford Community Shop URGENTLY needs more volunteer staff
A month in and the community shop is thriving – our stock is evolving to meet your needs, people are appreciating a local shop for last minute and regular items, it’s a friendly and happy meeting place with tea, coffee and cake, and of course there is Irene’s bread, Jackson’s bread and Critchlows’ pies.
but..
we urgently need more volunteer ‘shop keepers’ if we are to be able to keep the shop open all day every day, particularly over the next 4 weeks and Sundays as the peak Summer Holiday season starts. Please can you help?
We have a band of stalwart and lovely volunteers who staff the shop on a daily basis, and really need more people to join them. The shop has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, has a steady footfall so is good and manageable, and our volunteers really enjoy it. The main tasks are serving customers, both behind the counter and making tea and coffee. There is always someone on hand to answer any questions, we provide on the job training and we are all learning together so there is no need to worry about making mistakes or operating the till – it’s fine!
If you feel you might be able to help out weekly, fortnightly, monthly, or on an ad hoc basis please do get in touch. Soon! Leave your details or sign up in the shop, drop me an email on catehammond@hotmail.com, or give me a ring or a text on 07581 266108. If I’m not around I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Here are a couple of testimonies from our volunteers to whet your appetite.
“Did my first stint at the shop today – brilliant! Really enjoyed it & will definitely carry on” Gill.
“It’s really good fun, isn’t it? So friendly” Jane
We hope to hear from you soon!
