Just received this email and thought I would share.
Hi
I hope you don’t mind me contacting you but I found your details on the Grindleford Parish website. The reason for my communication is that Chris West has stood down as the Poppy Appeal Organiser for Grindleford. Chris and his wife Jo have organised the Poppy Appeal for 3 years and have done a fantastic job, raising almost £4,500 in that time which has been used to deliver welfare services to help those most in need in the ex-service community and their families.
I am looking for a new volunteer to take on the role, or two or more people to work together to organise the appeal in the village. There is a branch of The Royal British Legion in the village but the members are quite elderly and do not feel that there is anyone within the branch who can take on the task. The role involves ordering the wreaths for Remembrance Services and also the poppies and boxes, delivering the boxes of poppies and tins to the shops, school, businesses etc in the village just before the start of the appeal on the 24th October and collecting them back in after Remembrance Sunday, providing a team of house to house collectors with boxes of poppies & tins, counting and banking collections at the end of the appeal.
As someone involved with a community group in Grindleford, would you be able to spread the word for the need for a volunteer / volunteers? Please pass on my contact details to anyone who may be interested. If you are able to display posters somewhere in the village, I would be happy to send you some.
Best Regards
Christine Selden
