Plant Sale – 16th May – Nepal Relief

Penny Reynolds is organising a plant sale again this year alongside home made cakes, tea and coffee.

It is on Saturday 16th May from 10.00 – 13.00 at the Pavilion, Grindleford.

Last year she raised money for our Community Shop, £800 in all. This year she would like the money to go to another community, currently in great need of support.

Some of you will know Phuri Sherpa who now lives in Grindleford, but whose home village lies between Katmandu and Mount Everest. It was hit by the recent earthquake. He is collecting money for the village – Bittakharka in the Solukhumbu (Everest) region. The people there are farmers with isolated farms scattered over the hillside. Fortunately no one was killed or injured in village, but many houses have been damaged and five have been completely destroyed. The money you give will go towards repairs and rebuilding.

All proceeds from the sale will go to Phuri to pass to the Bittakharka community.

Penny would really appreciate…

• any offers to help on the day, either on the plants or in the pavilion doing teas, coffees and cake;

• donations of plants…cuttings, things you can divide, a plant you do not want any more, spare seedlings etc but please do label them!

• any offers to bake

but most of all, please pop down and spend a bit to help raise a good total for Phuri.

Please email Penny on tpme.reynolds@btinternet.com or phone her on 630023 if you are able to help her in any way.

Warm regards,

The Shop Team
