New shopping and leisure link for bus service

A new look bus service connecting Peak District passengers with Sheffield is set to be launched by Stagecoach Yorkshire.

From Saturday 22 July, Stagecoach will be introducing the 65 service which will operate between Buxton and Sheffield and – for the first time – extend to Meadowhall Retail Park, the flyDSA Arena, Meadowhall Shopping Centre and IKEA.

It will give passengers access to more than 230 stores and 50 places to eat and drink at Meadowhall – one of the most-visited shopping destinations in the region.

They can also browse furniture and home accessories at the newly opened IKEA or visit restaurants, cinemas and attractions such as playcentres, bowling and Lazer Quest at Valley Centertainment.

The 65 also will also serve Millers Dale, Litton, Tideswell, Eyam, Stoney Middleton, Grindleford, Fox House Inn, Ecclesall Road, Sheffield City Centre and Sheffield Interchange.

Matt Davies, Managing Director of Stagecoach Yorkshire, said: “The new service is ideal for passengers heading into Sheffield for work, shopping and leisure.

“From trips to the cinema to shopping at IKEA or Meadowhall, the service has been designed to allow people to leave the car at home and ‘Go explore’ our fantastic region.”

Service 65 will operate seven days a week.

Return tickets can be used on the Hulley’s of Baslow service 66 between Buxton and Calver.

English National Concessionary Travel Scheme passes are valid for free travel after 9.30am on weekdays and all day on Saturdays and Sundays.

Explorer day tickets (£6.50) and Megarider Gold weekly tickets (£22) will provide unlimited travel on the Peakbus 65 service, as well as the whole of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire with Stagecoach including the Sheffield Supertram.

A child version is available for passengers aged five to 15 years old priced at £4.30 and a family of up to two adults and three children can travel all day for just £11.

Stagecoach Sheffield Megarider, Dayrider and Student tickets can be purchased and are valid on service 65 between Fox House and Meadowhall.

Contactless payments are accepted on all Stagecoach services.
