New Hope Valley Theatre Group

A new theatrical group that is now requiring adult members is being formed to encompass all the villages within the Hope Valley. There is no intention that the group will tread on current groups’ toes but will have at its core the remit of being alternative, complementary to those groups. With this in mind,  reparation is well underway to present a lively and entertaining Puppets and Fun show for our younger children at Bradwell Memorial Hall next May. There will be 4 performances over three days, Friday evening to Sunday afternoon with two shows on the Saturday. A collection of animal costumes, hand puppets and clowns attire is being assembled and we now require Expressions of Interest to be involved in what we hope will be the first of an annual event. The director / writer being already in post we require all other roles involved in show production from musicians and singers, stage manager to prompt, props and programs, actors and hand puppeteers to front of house. We need you whether you are a wizard with a blusher brush or a piece of wood and a screwdriver, a roll of material and a sewing machine or making a good cup of tea and generally taking care of the rest of us. You may simply love to be involved in anyway at all, we really would like to hear from you. Once we know of those interested, a first meeting will be arranged to form the group with introductions and decisions made. A date will be fixed to begin rehearsing / preparing for the show which is anticipated to be around March in readiness for the last week in May, Spring Bank Holiday week. It is not required that you should have any special talent, just a wish to join in with us, make a contribution, and do it well. Obviously, if you do have a talent then take this opportunity to use it! We require people who like a bit of fun … clowns and fools. Folk to stand in the wings with a mike and be the voice, spoken or sung, of the chap or lady making all the moves in an animal costume on stage. We need singers on stage who can engage the audience in singing old favourites such as Old McDonald etc.. Deep, rich voices are required, especially male, squeaky / cute voices are especially sought and accents would be good too.
