Grindleford Tree Planting Group Update

Grindleford Tree Planting Group (GTPG) has a lot of news!

Project 2 ( planting a new hedge of 500 saplings beyond the MUGA)

And Project 3 ( transplanting some alder from next to the MUGA fence to the same line as Project 2)

We will be doing the planting of Projects 2 and 3 on two consecutive weekends.

Saturday 20th November and Sunday 21st 10am -2pm.

Saturday 27th November and Sunday 28th  10am – 2pm.

This will be a similar hedge to the one we planted together in April at the top of the bonfire field ( which is doing really well) but the trees will be a slightly different mix of species that will be better suited to damp conditions ( downy willow, alder, hawthorn, blackthorn, Rowan) all natives.I have secured the trees from The Conservation Volunteers.

We will need help.

It should be educational, fun and beneficial to our environment.

The trees should create a new wildlife corridor to encourage more wildlife and should help towards our aim to help the climate emergency.

Please come and help!

Please email if you can come.I You will then be sent more details.

Thanks,We can make a difference!Take care
Paul ( on behalf of GTPG)

GTPGOur aim is to plant trees to enhance our local habitats; to provide more wildlife corridors in the village that in turn attracts insects, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals; to make an effort to address climate change at a very local level; perhaps to help prevent flooding; and  to bring people together to learn about and care for our environment and to have a good time!
We have another project (4) to plant on 11th December in Upper Padley, more details to follow!
