Grindleford Resident Launches Poetry Book

From Cora Greenhill, Grindleford resident:

I am thrilled to be able to invite you to the launch of my new poetry collection

The Point of Waking

(Oversteps Books, 2013)

About half the poems in the book are set in Crete, the others range widely from Derbyshire to Seven Sisters Road to Timbuctoo.

Her suggestive vocabulary and cultural accretions energise moments of being and life’s cycles to produce a pungent and elemental poetry. Here the raw and cooked are nudged along through nuanced and succulent language. The poems probe, elevate and mark boundaries. They possess a wonderfully grounded quality. They are at once anthropological, physical and magical, and a delight to read.

David Caddy, editor, Tears in the Fence

The launch will be held in the delightful The Outside Cafe, Hathersage*,

on Sunday November 10th starting at 6.30 for 7pm.

*(next to the garage on the High Street, parking behind. Trains from Sheffield and Manchester stop at Hathersage Station.)

There will be poetry and music from some very special friends as well as reading from the book. Pauline Rignall, whose painting is on the cover, will be showing some of her landscape work.

Refreshments and cake will be available, and of course you can buy the book for yourself and Christmas presents…

I really hope you can join us! Friends and partners too.

RSPV appreciated
