Dominic West in Sheffield Show

Tickets on sale now for festive show
featuring local stars of TV, stage and screen,
Dominic West and Tom Chambers

One of the Peak District’s most famous sons, the Hollywood actor Dominic West, is returning to the area for a charity event on 26 November.

The fundraising show, in aid of the Chesterfield Royal Hospital’s new cancer unit, will also feature another local thespian, Tom Chambers – a regular on Casualty, Holby and Father Brown – who hails from Darley Dale; Sheffield actors Sophie Bickerstaff and Oliver Blagden; and Jan Francis – known to generations from TV’s Just Good Friends with Paul Nicholas, and most recently I Want My Wife Back.

Dominic West, who grew up in Grindleford, is best known for his roles in popular US dramas The Affair and The Wire, but has also appeared in numerous Hollywood movies and the West End. He will perform a range of seasonal pieces, ranging from TS Elliot’s atmospheric poem The Journey of the Magi, to an extract from Tony Harrison’s The Mysteries – by special arrangement with Samuel French, and many more light-hearted and Christmassy pieces, alongside the other members of the cast.

The audience will also be treated to excerpts from Cider with Rosie, The Wind in the Willows, poems by Carole Ann Duffy and much, much more to get us in the mood for Christmas. Festive music will come from Harlequin Brass, The Kinder Children’s Choir and Baslow Choir and don’t forget to bring your sheet music of the Hallelujah Chorus for a lung-blasting sing-a-long.

The evening, at Sheffield’s St Marie’s Catholic Cathedral, is arranged by the North Derbyshire Macmillan Cancer Support fundraising committee. Tickets, costing £25, £50 or £95 – which includes a champagne reception with the stars – are on sale now from Judy Bull on 0114 2891391 or email judybull@hotmail.co.uk
