Carnival AGM

In a small village like Grindleford, community events are really important. As screen time and box sets vie for our attention, the Grindleford Carnival in June is an opportunity to get together, catch up with friends and neighbours, laugh, raise money and chase some yellow ducks down a river.

Matty, Kate, Jez and Matt took on the organisation three years ago. In that time Grindleford Carnival has raised over £2,000 for local groups such as the Playing Field Committee, Grindleford and Eyam Playgroup and Grindleford Primary School. It’s been a lot of fun and really rewarding but it’s time for them to move on and let people with fresh ideas step forward. They are more than happy to help out to ensure we have a 2019 carnival in Grindleford.

Realistically, it’s half a dozen meetings a year in a pub with beer and chips, a few weeks of busy evenings and a couple of really rewarding days where you get to see the fruits of your labour.

There’ll be an AGM at the Sir William on Sunday, November 18 at 7.30pm, with beer and chips of course. Come along and make it the biggest ever (the AGM not the carnival). If you don’t, there won’t be a carnival next year. Back to box sets and screen time.
